Just when you thought it was safe to check your credit report online, hackers are now accessing those sites and stealing identities.

msnbc.com reports hackers are infiltrating websites like CreditReport.com and AnnualCreditReport.com. There is an open market for the information. The higher your credit score, the more hackers charge for the information.

An Internet security expert gave msnbc.com a tour of the marketplaces and bulletin boards where hackers share information about how to obtain credit report information.

One victim said she now pays to maintain a credit freeze on her credit reports.
