City officials see spike in roofing permit requests following storm of 2015

KREM 2's Matt Vergara has the story (11/30/16)

SPOKANE, Wash. --- Spokane City officials said they have seen an increase in roofing permits requests since last year. Most of the permits are needed due to the damage from the windstorm that hit the area last year.

Despite all of the requests, the city is running out of time to issue permits as winter approaches.

City inspectors told KREM 2 that the damage from the windstorm was the worst they have ever seen.

Officials said anytime you make an improvement or modification to your home, you must get a permit. On top of that, home owners must get an inspector to check the house.

City officials said they have seen a significant jump in permit requests. There are already 178 roofing permits for November alone. This is a huge jump, considering last year in November, there were only 68 permits issued. City officials said they are working diligently to get permits to those impacted by the storm.
