Multi-million dollar solar power plant to be built in Boise

BOISE -- A big announcement was made during the 2010 State of the City Address in Boise Wednesday.

Mayor Dave Bieter announced a $45 million solar power plant will be built near the Boise Airport.

The 10 megawatt facility will create 20 construction jobs, as well as retain 20 manufacturing jobs.

The power produced at the solar energy plant will be sold locally under a new standard power purchase agreement.

Right now, the city is negotiating a lease with Sunergy World to build the facility.

The solar power plant will be built on city-owned property west of the airport.
