SEATTLE - After being in business since 1972, Crossroads Appliance has shut its doors. KING 5 News contacted the company after receiving calls and e-mails from customers.

Leona Coakley-Spring of Redmond says Crossroads Appliance was supposed to fix her range. They got the oven to work, but they broke her microwave in the process, and now they won't be around to fix it.

"I expect that they would take care of their business, and this is wrong," said Leona.

In a statement, the company said "During these difficult economic times we have tried to merge two companies, Crossroads Appliance and The Maytag Stores, in order to survive this economy and continue our business. We have not been able to gain the cooperation of our product vendors to do this successfully and are now reorganizing into a smaller organization to reduce our overhead and meet our obligations. We have temporarily closed our doors while we work with our partners. This process will take a few weeks before we are able to re-open our stores or transfer our operations to another local appliance dealer."

"These are good, smart people and they just got into a bad spot," said Tom Tom Beardslee, with Seattle Home Appliance. He says his company is looking at buying some of the closed locations. You can have your warranty work preformed by any authorized service or repair company. In the meantime,  Tom's people will be the ones taking care of customers who were supposed to have Crossroads Appliance fix their stuff.

"We'll take care of them right here, we've got the staff to do it," he said.

Customers are being asked to contact Seattle Home Appliance at (425) 485-0551 to process appliance repair requests.

If you used a credit card to purchase an item that hasn't been delivered, call your credit card company and dispute the charge. If you paid by cash or check, it's a little tougher. If they haven't cashed your check, put a stop payment on it. If it has been cashed you will have to wait and see if they will deliver the items, but make a claim in writing to Crossroads right away.
