Corn is rising in light trading as commodities traders await a series of crucial reports that will be released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Friday.

Corn for March delivery rose 3.25 cents to settle at $6.8875 a bushel Tuesday. The grain has declined almost 20 percent since reaching a multi-year high in August after drought decimated crops.

In other grains trading, wheat for March delivery fell 0.75 cents to $7.5050 a bushel, while soybeans fell 2 cents a bushel to $13.8650.

Trading in metals was mixed. Gold, silver and platinum rose while copper and palladium fell.
