AMR helps medically fragile woman reunite with family in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. --  A woman with Cerebral Palsy in Buffalo, New York, will finally reunite with her sister in Portland, thanks to help from the community and ambulance company American Medical Response.

She will fly to Portland in a special aircraft Tuesday.

Sarah Kurnick is considered medically fragile and needs ‘round the clock care. Her mom Francesca Kurnick felt moving her to Portland seemed almost impossible, and extremely expensive. She talked about the family GoFundMe page to WGRZ Channel 2 in Buffalo, NY.

After the story aired, American Medical Response stepped up to help.

Crews from New York to Oregon are working together to help move Sarah. With the help of two ambulances, one special medical aircraft and six specially trained AMR professionals, Sarah will be reunited with her family after decades of living apart.

AMR will donate services of a special flight crew and provide free transport in ambulances so Sarah can make it home safe.
