NEAR BATTLE GROUND, WA - Washington State Patrol confirmed a child, 6, died in a wrong-way crash on I-5 northbound near Battle Ground, WA Friday afternoon.

Troopers responded to a call of a head-on collision involving two-cars just before 2 p.m.  Around the same time, they received a call on the crash about a wrong-way driver heading south in the northbound lanes.

Upon arriving at the scene, WSP learned the wrong-way driver, identified a Vancouver,WA man, 84, hit another vehicle head-on that had a mother, 32, and her two young children, ages 6 and 10, inside.  A third car was always lightly struck, but was otherwise not involved.

Four people were transported to the hospital between the two cars, and WSP later confirmed the youngest child died.  WSP says the other boy, 10, had to be airlifted to OHSU.

WSP said it would be some time until they know if drugs or alcohol played a role.
