TWIN FALLS, Idaho -- First a shooting, then a stand-off in Twin Falls.
Police were alerted to a shooting about 1:45 pm Monday at the Comfort Inn on Canyon Springs Road.
No arrests have been made, but a stand-off ensued at a nearby Twin Falls home where police were searching for a person of interest.
At 10 p.m., police told us a they used tear gas inside the home and a search warrant had been obtained to enter it, although it's unclear if anyone was inside the residence.
The Comfort Inn became a crime scene after a woman was shot in one of its guest rooms.
Investigators marked the area with evidence tags, as officers began their search for the person of interest: 30-year-old Thomas Trevino.
"He was last seen in the area of the hotel, so we do need to talk to him," said Lt. Craig Stotts of Twin Falls Police Department.
Officers aren't saying how he may be connected to the case. They do say he was last seen with a dog, leaving the hotel in a red SUV.
That SUV was later found at Trevino's last known address a few miles away.
The SWAT team quickly set up -- neighbors in the immediate area were evacuated, others were told to stay off the streets.
"Me and my family were sitting out on our front porch swing. The cop pulled up and they sat there for about an hour and a half. A couple cops went by several cops drove down the street down that way and that way. One of the cops get out of the car and start suiting up," said witness Justin Weaver.
Around 5:30 p.m., the SWAT team began to move on the house.
Officers are not saying if Trevino was inside, only that he's considered armed and dangerous.
"The officers are set up at the location at that house. It is a very dangerous situation at this time so we are proceeding with caution. I would just ask that the public remain calm and let us do our job here," said Stotts.
Officers say they do not know if the shooting victim was a guest at the hotel, or if she's local.
They also don't know how she knows Thomas Trevino.
She was flown by air to a hospital in Boise. Her name, age, and condition have not been released.
Police say Trevino is dark-skinned with black hair and brown eyes. He is 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and dark jeans. Trevino has extensive tattoos on both arms and his upper body.
