Break out the sunglasses and sunblock - Western Washington and Oregon is getting a stretch of gorgeous summer-like weather in May.

"Lots of sunshine headed our way today, tomorrow and Thursday. It might get a little warm for some people in the afternoons. We'll see some low to mid 80s, but it will be cooling down as we head later in the week, so it won't be too long of a trial," said KING 5 Meteorologist Rich Marriott.

Marriott says the unseasonal warm weather should rise to the mid 70s to low 80s Tuesday and the 80s on Wednesday and Thursday, with peak temperatures to hit Thursday. Areas north and west of Everett may see slightly cooler temperatures in the 70s.

In Portland, Meteorologist Nick Allard said "Wednesday will be even warmer with highs approaching 90°. At 88° we won't set a record, but it's going to be hot!"

But our summer stretch ends just in time for the weekend.

By Friday, cooler air from the ocean will move in, bringing with it more clouds and a chance of some rain showers later in the day. Temperatures will drop back down to the mid to upper 60s and mid 70s. And by the weekend, we'll get off and on showers with temperatures dropping back into the low 60s.
