With the I-90 lane closures just days away, some talk had come up of lowering the toll on the 520 bridge during construction to ease congestion.
The Washington State Transportation Commission says they weren't notified about the construction early enough to even consider a change in tolling. WSDOT says the council knew about the construction since July 1. Regardless, the toll isn't going down.
"While we are very sympathetic with the situation that has been created, we also have a responsibility to the bond holders to whom we owe money," said Anne Haley, Washington State Transportation Commissioner.
Haley went on to say that it's hard to know if they would have changed the toll even if they had known about the construction earlier.
Haley also said that the construction is "only five days. It's not forever."
