WASHINGTON, D.C. - A USA Today investigation has found that fugitives by the tens of thousands are escaping justice by crossing a state border.

According to USA Today investigators, Washington State has 2,753 warrants statewide that are non-extradition warrants.  That number includes 44 for violent crimes and 69 for sex crimes and is out of 35,517 total warrants in the state.

Oregon had just 13 non-extradition warrants according to the data discovered by USA Today, out of 13,142 total warrants.  However, Idaho had 1,021 non-extradition warrants out of 3,044 total warrants, including 27 for violent crimes, and 24 for sex crimes.
