SUMNER, Wash. – Both northbound and southbound lanes of State Route 167 were shut down in Sumner while road crews cleaned up an accident involving a tanker truck that hit an overpass.

The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. at 24th Street East. Reports from witnesses say the top of the truck has been torn off.

State troopers believe the driver had a medical problem which led to the wreck.

The driver apparently lost control and went up the embankment and rant into the bottom of the overpass.

The Washington State Department of Transportation says the truck had been carrying a common household refrigerant, which spilled with fuel at the scene.

The driver was taken to the hospital. Nobody else was hurt in the crash.
