TACOMA, Wash. -- Grandma Toots' pickle recipe will be kept a secret, but her pickles could soon become famous.
Lynnae Schneller, Grandma Toots' great-granddaughter, signed a deal to sell "Lynnae's Famous Pickles" at Costco and Kroger grocery store locations later this month.
Schneller is using her great-grandmother's secret recipe.
"She'd be so excited just to see that brought our family together for so many years is now able to be shared with everyone across the United States," said Schneller.
Schneller and her sister-in-law Aly Cullinane started the company in 2011, pickling cucumbers to sell at farmers markets.
Now the company pickles 10,000 jars a month at an Oregon plant.
Only the women in the family know the secret recipe.
Cullinane had to wait until she married into the family to learn the ingredients.
"She would always eat them," said Schneller, "but never knew how to make them."
