Tacoma bank robbery and shooting
Tacoma, Wash. – A suspected bank robber was shot this morning after firing at Tacoma police officers, a police spokesman said.
The robbery happened at Columbia Bank at 1959 S. Union Avenue sometime around 11 a.m. Tacoma Police Department spokesman Mark Fulghum says the suspect took off in a vehicle.
Fulghum says the suspect got out of the vehicle at S. 16th Street and S. Ridgewood Avenue and took off on foot. Once cornered by officers, the suspect allegedly fired at least one shot, possibly more.
The officers returned fire, hitting the suspect. It's unclear how many times the suspect was hit. The suspect is being transported to the hospital.
