SPOKANE--The SWAT team was called out to the scene of a standoff early Sunday morning in north Spokane that ended peacefully.

Spokane Police told a KREM 2 News crew on the scene that officers responded to a report of a burglary in the early morning hours on the 110 block of E. Nora.

Spokane police say the homeowner got into a fight with the burglar who claimed to have a gun.

Police located the burglary suspect at a nearby house at 922 East Ermina, just off Hamilton and northeast of Gonzaga University.

A man and a woman inside that home refused to come out around 3 a.m.  Police confirmed there was a weapon inside so they called the SWAT team.

The man and woman finally came out of the house around 6:30 a.m. without incident.  Police arrested 24-year-old Cody Wolkand 24-year-old Peta Shimanski for first degree burglary and first degree robbery. Police are still investigating and more charges may be pending.
