Seattle Police SWAT team and negotiators on Sunday were at a North Seattle motel where a robbery suspect was holed up in a third-floor room.

Police say officers had gone to the motel on N. 133rd Street and Stone Way looking for the man, suspected of robbing a Key Bank and fleeing on a bike earlier this month.

At the motel, officers learned the suspect was sharing a room with a woman - who was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant - and called for back-up.

When police contacted the pair Sunday, the suspected bank robber told officers his girlfriend was his hostage. The pair were locked inside their third-floor motel room with a dog.

Negotiators were able to get the woman to come out. Negotiators continued to negotiate with the man until he gave himself up peacefully around 7:15 Sunday evening.

One floor of the Extended Stay America on Stone Way was evacuated during the negotiation.
