Americans are getting even more hard-core when it comes to driving after drinking, even if they are guilty of it themselves, a new online Harris poll finds.

Sixty-eight percent of those polled say it is dangerous or very dangerous to drive after only one or two drinks, the poll of 2,234 adults finds. One or two drinks is generally below what it would take to cross the 0.8% blood alcohol threshold that can land drivers in the pokey for drunken driving.

Yet more than a third, 37%, of those who drink alcohol say they've driven at a time when they've had too much to drink.

They're not the only ones who admit to being present for dangerous behavior behind the wheel.

Sixty-two percent say they have been in cars while the driver was talking on a cellphone that they were holding, 45% say they've been with drivers who were reading or sending text messages. About a fourth admit to still often or sometimes text in the car themselves. Thirteen percent say they've watched a video on a video or smartphone while behind the wheel.

It's not just technology that's causing distracted driving. There were 27% who admitted to "grooming while driving."
