SALEM, Ore. -- Governor Ted Kulongoski on Friday unveiled Oregon's new "Healthy Kids" plan.
It gives every child in the state access to health care through a state insurance plan.
The governor wants to enroll Oregon's 80,000 uninsured children by the end of the year. So far, 30,000 are enrolled.
"It starts to get overwhelming when you have to take multiple kids to doctors or have illness run through the family and whole family comes down with it, it piles up real quick," mother Elysha Hobaish said.
"This is for working families the cost of health care is too expensive to pay for it, employers may not be able to afford it," Kulongoski said.
The number to call to see if you child qualifies is 1-877-314-56-78.
