Sign makers are hard at work building a new Rainer “R” that will go atop the old Rainer Brewery in Seattle.
The iconic “R” was removed in 2000 when Tully’s Coffee took over the building, replaced with a green “T.” But the new owner of Tully’s recently called that move a mistake and had the “T” taken down and plans to replace it with a new “R.”
Western Neon in Seattle was hired to create the new “R.” Unlike the original, it will have bulbs on both sides. It will be hoisted up on Oct. 24.
The old “R” is on display at the Museum of History and Industry in Seattle.
