SEATTLE - The Mariners hope to have Safeco Field's retractable roof fixed by later this week.
There's a bad wheel on panel one, which extends a farther distance than panel two at the stadium. One of the axles and 128 wheels on the roof broke.
The team has the spare parts for the repair.
"So we have a bad wheel and as such we are working to get the jacking equipment set up, jack the roof up, pull out the wheel assemblies to make way, put in the new weight wheel and get it back in action," said Scott Jenkins, Vice President, Ballpark Operations.
This is only the second time the stadium roof got stuck. Back in 2000, a Mariners-Rangers game had to be delayed 54 minutes when the roof wouldn't close.
The M's say it was the only rain delay in the club's history.
