OLYMPIA - The Mount Si and Little Si trailheads and trails will remain closed through Tuesday while crews work to remove the wreckage of the single-engine airplane that crashed in the Mount Si Natural Resources Conservation Area on Feb. 15.
"We know this closure affects a lot of people's weekend plans, and we appreciate everyone's patience," said Doug McClelland, Assistant Region Manager for DNR's South Puget Sound Region. "For public safety reasons, DNR is keeping the area closed through the weekend to give the contractor and crews from Seattle Mountain Rescue clear access to the site."
The crash killed 30-year-old Rob Marshall Hill, 31-year-old Seth Dawson, both respected swim coaches, and 29-year-old Elizabeth Redling, a lifeguard at the King County Aquatic Center.
