BOTHELL – The annual Fourth of July parade in Bothell brought out hundreds of people from every walk of life including more than 40 Muslims who participated.

This is the fourth year they have walked in the parade. The first year, they only had six people involved.

American Muslims are the most diverse religious group in America. The group carried American flags, wore matching shirts and handed out candy to those who were watching. They brought together families, doctors, nurses, veterans and community leaders to show the community that they are productive members of society and proud Americans.

“For me it’s about being part of an American celebration,” said organizer Syed Mustafa. “Being part of the community is not just going to school and stuff, but it’s about being at important events. Events that matter to the United States and matter to us.”

The Bothell Fourth of July parade included everyone from a 90-year-old World War 2 veteran to a classic car club. The children’s parade led the way followed by the standard parade in the early afternoon.
