LAKEWOOD, Wash. - Four Lakewood, Wash., police officers are riding bicycles in a national fundraiser for fallen officers in Washington, D.C. this spring.
The officers will be the first from the state of Washington to ride in the annual "Police Unity Tour" this May. The tour raises funds for the national Law Enforcement Memorial and a future museum honoring slain police officers.
The two Lakewood sergeants and two officers will be riding in honor of the four Lakewood officers shot and killed in a Parkland coffee shop last November.
"There will be a lot of hugs, a lot of tears," said Sgt. Mark Eakes.
The Lakewood officers said riding with police from around the country who have also lost co-workers will help them with the healing process.
"I look at this as a true honor to do this for not only for the department and for the officers families, but for the community," said Sgt. John Fraser.
Each officer is trying to raise $1,800 to pay for the trip. Donations can be mailed to:

Checks are also being accepted at the Lakewood Police Department.
