BOISE -- Details are emerging about the case of five soldiers, including one from Idaho, who accused of murdering Afghan civilians.
Five soldiers, including Andrew Holmes, 19, of Boise, are charged with murder, while seven others are charged with participating in a cover up.
The U.S. Army released documents disclosing details of what each of the men are accused of doing.
The documents say that Holmes, with four other men, threw grenades at Afghan civilians, and shot them, killing three men.
They also say that Holmes kept a finger from one of the dead civilians, while fellow soldiers kept leg bones, and a tooth. Another soldier allegedly kept a skull.
Holmes, along with seven other soldiers, is also charged with using an illegal drug called hashish.
Another charge of taking, and having pictures of the corpses is leveled at Holmes and other soldiers.
One man is charged with telling a fellow soldier to lie to investigators about the deaths.
All of the men accused were members of the 2nd Infantry Division brigade operating near Kandahar in southern Afghanistan in 2009 and 2010.
