An elderly man was assaulted and his girlfriend was robbed in their Seattle home late Tuesday night, and it's not the first time this has happened to the man.

Seattle police say the home invasion in the 700 block of NW 120th Street happened around 11:45 p.m.

Police say two black men in their 20s, wearing dark-colored ski masks, broke in through the back door and confronted the homeowner, who was in bed asleep with his girlfriend.

One of the robbers allegedly pointed a black handgun at the man and demanded money. The victim started fighting with the suspect, but fell to the floor and was kicked by the suspect.

The suspect then grabbed the girlfriend’s purse and ran away from the home.

Medics treated the victim at the scene.

Police recovered some items about a block away that are believed to be from the girlfriend’s purse. The suspects were not found. Robbery detectives are continuing the investigation.

In addition to wearing ski masks, police say the suspect who fought the homeowner had a white t-shirt and blue jeans. The other suspect was wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the robbery or who may know the suspects is asked to call 911 or the Seattle Police Robbery Unit at 206-684-5535. Anonymous tips are welcome.

This isn't the first time the elderly man has had intruders in his home. According to a Seattle Police report, three masked men broke into the man's home last February. The elderly man found the intruders in his house and was confronted by one man with a gun. He was tied up and robbed of cash, jewelry and gold in a safe.

The suspects in that incident were never identified.
