Despite the Seahawks loss against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, the day was especially memorable for one local teacher honored at Century Link Field.

Jan Sayers was honored for her work with students as an English teacher at Mercer Island High School. She was selected as a "Symetra Hero in the Classroom" and was given recognition on the jumbo tron during Sunday's game.

Sayers is one of 16 K-12 teachers in the Puget Sound area who will be honored for educational excellence in the Symetra Heroes in the Classroom program during the 2013 NFL season. Sayers was also surprised with a $1,000 donation for classroom books and supplies.

Sayers reports Sunday was 'fabulous', but a 'bummer' that the Seahawks lost the game.
