ADA COUNTY -- Crews are responding to a brush fire burning along Interstate 84 at this hour.

The fire broke out near the eastbound lanes at mile post 41 - the Black Cat Road overpass.

Fire departments from Nampa and Meridian were on scene.

The fire was reported around 9:30 a.m. and is burning to the south.  There are homes in the area.  The fire burned right up to a vinyl fence near a home and a destroyed another near the interstate. It appears none of the homes were damaged.

Idaho State Police tell us that both directions of Interstate 84 are open, but motorists should be alert to smoke in that area and drive carefully.

Crews do appear to be getting the upper hand on the fire.

NewsChannel 7 has a crew at the scene.  Check back soon for updates.
