BOISE -- New York is preparing for the big New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square.
In Boise, it’s going to be a unique New Year’s Eve celebration as organizers get ready for the Idaho Potato Drop.
As the clock counts down to midnight, the glowing 16-foot long potato will be lowered from the U.S. Bank building in downtown Boise.
Confetti will also be released from atop the potato's platform and there will be a custom light show display at the end of the countdown.
The festivities get under way New Year’s Eve at 7:30 p.m.
There will be live music throughout the Grove Plaza, street performers, and plenty of food vendors.
The potato will begin dropping at 11:59 p.m.
KTVB is a proud sponsor of the New Year’s Eve Idaho Potato Drop.
