BOISE -- ESPN is reporting Boise State University Head Coach Chris Petersen is set to accept a head coaching job at the University of Washington.

Speculation had run rampant on Thursday when Petersen's name was announced as a contender for the post left vacant by former head coach Steve Sarkisian, who accepted a position at the University of Southern California.

Petersen was said to be interviewing for the job on Friday.

ESPN college football reporter Joe Schad released a burst of information via his Twitter feed just before 6 a.m. detailing Coach Pete's apparent move.

They read:

Chris Petersen expected to be named Washington head coach today. Will be one of highest paid in PAC-12.

BREAKING: Chris Petersen is expected to be named next head coach at Washington. He is 92-12 as head coach at Boise State (retweeted from ESPN Sportscenter).

While the announcement hasn't been confirmed by Boise State, officials at BSU did acknowledge Chris Petersen's scheduled interview with the University of Washington on Thursday.
