PORTLAND -- A car burst into flames after it slammed into a power pole in Southeast Portland early Tuesday morning.

The driver was able to get out of the car just before flames engulfed the hood and then the rest of the car.

The crashed occurred just before 3:30 a.m. along SE Division Street.

When firefighters arrived, all that remained of the car was the melted interior of the vehicle.

The driver’s name and condition at the hospital have not been released.
