SAN JUAN ISLAND, Wash. -- CenturyLink says voice communication services went down again Wednesday night, this time for all of the San Juan Islands.
A little more than a week ago, an underwater fiber optic line was severed, shutting down a big part of phone, internet, cell phone and other data services on the island.
CenturyLink brought in a barge to fix it, with no estimate yet on when a permanent solution would be finished.
They said Wednesday's outage was not a result of capacity, but that the phone lines went down while they were adding additional equipment to augment the network.
There was no estimate on when the landlines will be back up.
