OREGON CITY, Ore. — Closing arguments are set to begin in the faith-healing trial of Jeff and Marci Beagley, an Oregon City couple charged with criminally negligent homicide in the death of their teenage son in 2008.

Testimony wrapped up Thursday in the trial with Marci Beagley crying on the witness stand and telling a prosecutor she never believed her 16-year-old son, Neil, would die from what appeared to be a cold or the flu.

Doctors have testified the teenager could have been saved up until the last minute from a urinary tract blockage that damaged his kidneys.

But the Beagleys are members of the Followers of Christ Church, which avoids doctors in favor of faith healing and prayer.

A jury could get the case by Friday afternoon after closing arguments set for Friday morning.
