KUNA -- The Idaho Humane Society is offering a reward for information about a potential animal cruelty case out of Kuna.

Dexter the cat was brought to the Idaho Humane Society's Veterinary Medical Center with serious injuries to its head and face on Wednesday.

Veterinarians say Dexter was shot in the head with a small caliber bullet on Wednesday morning.

According to the humane society, there was a "trail of bullet fragments and shattered bone fragments" that showed the bullet entered the back of Dexter's head, and exited his forehead near his nose.

Dexter is said to be responsive, but vets don't know if he'll pull through. They say his right eye is destroyed.

Dexter's owner says the cat was outside a home in the Hayfield subdivision near Ten Mile and 4th Avenue when the shooting happened.

The Idaho Humane Society is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the shooting case.
