Seattle Police arrested a man after he was found hiding in the closet of a home in the Seward Park neighborhood.
Neighbors reported seeing a man break into the home Saturday night.
Just after 8 p.m., officers responded to the 5400 Block of Lake Washington Blvd. South for reports of a burglary. Neighbors reported seeing the suspect push open a basement window and enter the house. One neighbor was able to contact the homeowner, who was out of state, and was told that no one had permission to be inside the home.
Officers surrounded the house and at one point saw the man inside the kitchen going through cabinets and drawers. They used the public address system in one of the patrol cars in an attempt to get the suspect to come out of the house, but he didn't respond.
Officers were able to get a key to the house and entered. After announcing their presence several times with no response from the suspect, the officers began to search the home. The suspect, a 47-year-old man, was found hiding in an upstairs closet and taken into custody. He was later booked in the King County Jail.
