A Centralia man lost control of his car on a snowy I-5 south of Chehalis Tuesday morning. He was ejected from the car and thrown across a road before his own car rolled on top of him.

His injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to paramedics.

"This is my first time I see something like this," said Hector Cabrera, who called 911 after the wrecked car ended up in his front yard.

Cabrera's wife discovered the car while she was driving their children to school.

They were confused when they didn't see anyone in the car, then Hector saw an arm waving from underneath the car.

"The guy's pretty lucky it happened right here," said Hector who estimates the man was under the car for about half an hour before rescuers pulled him out.

The Washington State Patrol said the driver was going too fast for the snowy weather.

Some areas in Lewis and Thurston counties woke up to a little bit of snow Tuesday, marking the end of the deep freeze. A number of school districts reported closures or late starts. Sign up for school closure text alerts

There is no more snow in the forecast for the near future, but in a few inland areas, especially south of Tacoma, temperatures could drop into the low 30s or even upper 20s Tuesday night. The area that received up to an inch of snow south of Tacoma could see some of that re-freeze and create icy conditions Wednesday morning.
