PORTLAND -- A K-9 officer whose human partner was shot and wounded early Wednesday morning in Southwest Portland is missing, said police spokesman Sgt. Pete Simpson.

The German Shepherd was wearing a tactical vest and was last seen in the vicinity of Capitol Highway and Lobelia Street.

Neighbors should be on the lookout for the animal and call 911 if he's spotted.

Search units from throughout the region were offering additional K-9 officers and bloodhounds to assist in the search.

The wounded officer was reportedly in good spirits but very concerned about his missing partner, Simpson said.
