SPOKANE, Wash.—A 6-year-old boy slipped off a cliff at Liberty Park Monday night and fell more than 50 feet to the ground. A 14-year-old boy watched it all happen.
It was around 6:00 p.m. when Johnny Billedeaux stopped off near his house near Liberty Park to take in little league baseball and the beautiful view. The serene changed quickly when a 6-year-old boy and his dad showed up nearby.
“All I saw was him slide to the side. And heard his dad come in and say, ‘hey where you at? Where you at?’” said Billedeaux.
Billedeaux was shaken up from what he saw. Despite his shock, he called 911 right away and then figured out a way to reach the boy. The little boy’s father quickly followed along.
“I walked over there and he was still lying on the ground. It was a least 50 feet that he fell,” said Billedeaux.
The teenager said the young boy had a big gash in his head and had possibly fractured his arm. He said the boy survived the fall.
Billedeaux’s mother, Ashley Vasquez, came to the scene to comfort her son and was surprised to see he tried to help.
“I am really proud of him for doing the right thing,” said Vasquez.
The condition of the 6-year-old was unknown Monday night.
