PORTLAND -- Southwest Tualatin-Sherwood Road at Southwest Nyberg Road was closed after steel beams slipped and pierced the back of a semi-truck's cab and forced through the front window Wednesday afternoon.

The truck hauling the load of steel was stopped on the roadway as a crane and another semi-truck were brought in to clean up the mess.

The truck's driver said he was cut off and instinctively hit the brakes, forcing the beams through the cab.

Southwest Tualatin-Sherwood Road was expected to close for 3 hours starting at 5:30 p.m.

Traffic was detoured to Southwest Boones Ferry Road to access Interstate 5. No one was reportedly hurt in the accident.
