VANCOUVER – A suspect is in custody after he led police on a high-speed chase and crashed into a family in Vancouver Wednesday afternoon.
It began when deputies responded to a domestic violence call at Northeast 129th Street and Northeast Highway 99, according to Kim Kapp with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect, identified as Wayne Ross, then fled in a red truck, leading police on a high-speed chase. The Ross was driving as fast as 90 miles per hour, police said.
Ross ran a red light and crashed into a family in a red Jeep around East Fourth Plain and Broadway Street. He then left the truck and ran on foot and was chased by police and witnesses before being tased by police, according to police.
"Me and this guy on a skateboard chased him down," said Bobby Lawson.
John Golphenee was driving his family to the grocery store when they were struck by Ross.
"It's crazy," Golphenee said. "I don't know what to think. I've lost everything."
The suspect was taken into custody. Officials said he was also wanted on a warrant in Oregon.
