PORTLAND – A Portland couple won a $9 million Megabucks jackpot in December, officials from the Oregon Lottery said.
Cindy Degner bought the Megabucks ticket on Dec. 21, and after checking her numbers the next morning, she woke up her husband Randy and told him she’d won, said Chuck Baumann with the Oregon Lottery.
“I had Randy hold the ticket and I read him the winning numbers,” Degner said in a statement sent out by the Oregon Lottery. “Then we went to the 7-Eleven to check the ticket, and they said we needed to go to Salem.”
Degner bought the ticket at the 7-Eleven on Southeast Powell Boulevard near Southeast 112th Avenue.
The couple opted to take the cash option and received $1.5 million each from the jackpot.
