RITZVILLE, Wash. -- Washington State Patrol Troopers said a collision involving ten vehicles killed one person Friday. Cleanup was expected to block Interstate 90 well into the evening.
The wreck happened seven miles east of Ritzville.
Around 1:00 p.m., WSP had originally reported two people were killed in the wreck but later corrected their report, saying one person with life-threatening injuries later died after being transported to the hospital.
Authorities said between six and ten others were also sent to the hospital, some with serious injuries.
WSP said both westbound lanes of I-90 near the Tokio Exit could be blocked until 8:00 or 9:00 p.m. Traffic was being directed around the wreck through a five mile detour. The closure was affecting I-90 between Mile Post 229 and the Tokio Exit.
