Snow moves into Portland just in time for morning commute

PORTLAND-- Light snow has moved into Portland, with just a trace amount expected before rain takes over at 10 a.m.

Morning commuters should expect  the 'wintry mix' of precipitation throughout the commute, according to a National Weather Service special statement issued Friday morning.

Latest school closures and delays

Much of the accumulation with stay in the upper Columbia River valley and western Washington, said KGW Meteorologist Nick Allard. But NWS reported light snow in Northeast Portland at 6:30 a.m.

"South of Vancouver into Portland I believe we could see trace amounts to about an inch before turning to all rain later this morning," Allard said.

Most areas will be rainy and breezy by 10 a.m. and will stay that way throughout the afternoon.
