MILWAUKIE, Ore. -- Three kids fell through the ice at a Milwaukie pond Monday afternoon, prompting a search and rescue, officials said.
A caller reported that he heard something like ice breaking and then someone screaming for help near the Minthorn North Natural Area at 11300 SE 37th Ave., according to Officer Ulrike Neitch of Milwaukie police.
When rescue crews arrived at the scene, they learned that five children were playing on the pond, Neitch said. Three fell into the water near the shore but were able to get out of the pond before crews arrived.
All children were safe and accounted for Monday night, Neitch said.
