JEROME -- The cold snap causing temperatures to plummet throught Idaho is also  causing some districts to cancel school and delay buses.

Schools in Jerome, Shoshone, Idaho Falls, Oneida County, Grace, Fort Hall, Blackfoot and others were closed Monday.

In addition, buses throughout the Treasure Valley were reported late.

COLD TEMPS

Temperatures in Shoshone dropped to -20 at 6:45 a.m. Monday. 

Temperatures in Jerome were -3 at 6:45 a.m. Jerome superintendent Dale Layne says that district's school buses won't start due to the cold weather. 

Temperatures in Boise hovered around -3 during the early morning hours.

BUSES DELAYED IN BOISE, MERIDIAN, NAMPA

The Boise School District sent out a text alert just before 7:30 a.m. with the following information:

"Some buses are running late today (Monday, Dec. 9th) due to cold temperatures and road conditions. Please plan on the possibility of delays."

In addition, viewers have called or messaged KTVB on Facebook saying some buses in the Nampa, Meridian, New Plymouth, and Marsing areas were also late.
