PORTLAND -- A storm moving in Monday afternoon will bring heavy wind and rain throughout northwest Oregon and southwest Washington, according to a National Weather Service statement.

The storm could bring wind gusts of up 60 mph along the beaches and up to 45 mph in coastal communities.

"Winds in the inland valleys may gust to 30 or 35 mph late today and this evening," the Special Weather Statement reads. "These speeds may be enough to again cause some tree damage and power disruptions in southwest Washington and northwest Oregon."

"The valley should see about a half inch of rain and the coast and the mountains could pick up around 1 to 3 inches," said KGW Meteorologist Nick Allard.

But he said the rain will taper off to showers after the system moves through.

"Then it really dries out. Not just tomorrow afternoon, but more than likely the rest of the week," Allard said Monday morning.
