CALDWELL -- Last week seven schools were evacuated in the Caldwell and Vallivue school districts.

Caldwell Police Capt. Frank Wyant says they have identified an adult female suspect who has no relation to the schools. She is not a student, parent, faculty or staff member.

Wyant added that due to "extenuating circumstances" she is not in custody, but is aware that police have identified her as a suspect.

Three of the evacuations were a direct response to a bomb threat and the others because of rumors that spread throughout the districts.

Police call this a copy cat crime because they say she heard of a bomb threat being called into Vallivue High School and then called in the bomb threats to Jefferson Middle School and Washington Elementary.

The next day police say she called in a second bomb threat to Washington Elementary and one to the Canyon County Jail because, police tell us, she had a friend inside.

Police have not determined a motive for the phony threats.  The Vallivue High bomb threat is still being investigated, but this woman is not a suspect in that threat.

Police hope to release more information about this case tomorrow.
