The event started Friday with a Sports & Fitness Expo at the downtown Hilton. A Kid's Fun Run & Sports Festival kicked off Saturday at 9 a.m. On Sunday runners started checking in at 6:20 a.m. and the marathon kicked off at 7 a.m.
The marathon was dedicated to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing earlier this year. Marathon superstar "Boston Billy" Rodgers said a few words and the crowd observed a moment of silence before the race began.
Runners crossed TriMet light-rail tracks and bus routes during the race. The agency says 15 bus lines would be detoured during the event, and sporadic delays could be expected as drivers stop for runners.
