BOISE -- Officials have confirmed a deadly accident involving a Boise BLM smokejumper, and identified the man that was killed.
Don Smurthwaite, a National Interagency Fire Center spokesperson, says the accident happened when the parachute on 40-year-old Mark Urban of Boise, didn't deploy properly while he was making a training jump.
The accident was reported near Prairie, about 45 miles east of Boise.
Smurthwaite says a serious accident investigation team will be looking into the accident.
This is the 33rd line-of-duty wildland firefighter fatality in the U.S. this year.
