CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) -- An online threat made against Oregon State University on Thursday required the presence of 10 state police troopers and a campus-wide notification.

The Corvallis Gazette-Times reports school officials determined the IP address of the threat's source was from another part of the country.

Steve Clark, vice president for university relations and marketing, says the school believes the threat has no basis, but says the school decided to "act prudently."

State troopers patrolled campus Thursday, and a campus-wide alert said asked faculty and staff at both the Cascades and Corvallis campuses to be vigilant about suspicious activity.
