PORTLAND – A lot of rain is on the way into the Portland metro area with two big storms expected to make landfall this weekend.
The wet weather will look more like a winter storm than the rain typical for this time of year, said KGW Chief Meteorologist Matt Zaffino.
The first batch of rain will arrive by Friday afternoon hitting the Oregon coast to the Cascades with between .75 and 2 inches of rain.
Then, about midday Saturday, a second storm will come into the metro area with around 3.5 inches of rain expected in the heart of the Willamette Valley. The Cascades could see almost 10 inches of rain.
Zaffino doesn’t expect there will be much flooding because river levels are relatively low. There will most likely be some pooling of water around the metro with debris covering many storm drains.
